Outsourcing blog writing: Trip to Johor Bahru
Submitted by jmarki on 19 February 2008 - 2:39amWah... Everything can be outsourced right? Somehow, even network infrastructure can be outsourced. Win...
So, since EU can write such nice blog entries on holiday trips, in a short time, maybe I should outsource this writeup to him.
So, presenting: the Johor Bahru Trip on Chinese New Year 2008 with EU and his real bro.

Malaysia Trip 2007: Day 1, Genting Highlands
Submitted by jmarki on 13 June 2007 - 1:51pmWah, my blog entry on Day 0 has generated an furore of comments. Analysis of how my writing style reflects my personality, how EU's style of writing mirrors mine were discussed. There's even speculation of why EU and I decided on chronological order ("Is it a conspiracy?" "Why so long-winded one?"). Now now, I like to remember events, so I like to write in chronological order. That's all....
10th May 2007, Thurs, Genting Highlands
8.30 am
Time to wake up! But everyone wants to sleep. Hello, we are meeting JL at 9 am for breakfast in Mcdonalds!!
9.30 am
Finally made it down for breakfast. There are 2 Mcdonalds outlets in Genting, one at First World Hotel, the other in the Indoor Theme Park. We settled for hotcakes in the Indoor Theme Park outlet. Freakingly expensive though. RM13+ for a meal!!
Found out that SW eats a lot. He finished all the hotcakes the gals couldn't finish!! Does it mean he's still a pubescent boy? Whahahahahah
Bought tickets to the Outdoor Theme Park. The Indoor Theme Park doesn't look fun. Luckily we had not bought the combi-tickets online beforehand.
10.30 am
1st stop: Cyclone! This is the first ride we saw as we walked in. It's amazing how long the queue can be at opening time, there's easily 30 people in front of us.
After the ride, we went for the Pirate Train, a mini haunted ride. Sounds scary right? No! We saw the monsters before we reached them, and half of the monsters moved after we passed them. Sooooo very scary. Maybe for toddlers, I guess.
As we wandered through the park, we saw the theme park mascots below the Merdeka Stage. Couldn't remember their names. But they look so cuddly and round! I was so very tempted to push them onto the floor, then roll them around the area. Won't that be fun? Alas, I was dragged off when I voiced the plan. Sigh... That would have been the highlight of the whole trip, man.
Next, we went for the Pirate Ship (aka Vikings). Now this is fun for all that I'm sitting near the middle of the ship. After a few heart-stopping drops, the ship slowed and gently rocked to a stop.
Nauseated, we wandered off to the next ride, the humongous Flying Coaster. Rising 4 stories high, this promises to be fun!

Malaysia Trip 2007: Day 0, On Way To Genting
Submitted by jmarki on 5 June 2007 - 11:47pmFinally I have some time to write about my trip to Malaysia. Think I will write it in chronological order. That way, the memories of that trip will never be lost.
9th May 2007, Wed, Singapore
9 pm:
DM, YZ, SW, LM, BL, JC, JL and me met at the hawker centre opposite Golden Mile. We had decided to take the 10 pm bus by 草原 (Langkawi Express/Super Nice/Grassland), since Mosses Lim managed to squeeze into the seat.
The counter staff offered to add that night to our hotel booking for only S$40! Just $5 per person, and we'll have a place to sleep the moment we arrive at Genting! Wee~
The bus is rather spacious, but the 8 of us (okay, 7 -- JL just looked at us and shook her head) created a ruckus while waiting for the bus to fill up. DM started to regret coming along with us. Whahahaah
10th May 2007, Thursday, Malaysia
12 midnight:
The bus made it's first stop at Yong Ping (永平), somewhere in Johor. We bought lots and lots of cup noodles, soft drinks, biscuits, and other snacks. Genting is expensive, and we don't want to spend ourselves dry on our first stop.
5 am:
Reached Genting Resort Hotel loh. And the first thing I saw is two soft drink bottles rolling down Genting hill. WTF! The plastic bag had broke... Luckily it's that green don't-know-what-flavour drink which I don't really like anyway. Oh yah, the packaging of the snacks looks like it's going to explode too... Happening, huh?
Checked into our room. It is BIG... 2 queen-sized beds, 1 big shower room, 1 toilet, and a sink outside. Perfect for a big group of people sharing a room. Of course, the first thing we did is to jump into bed to sleep.

Clearing a mountain of backlog
Submitted by jmarki on 22 May 2007 - 2:18pmWah, 11 days away, and I have over 400 emails to clear... Read them until my eyes go
Then I found out I have several system maintenance to do, like updating this site, and the linuxNUS sites. Geez...
Hmm, my friends are inviting me to go camping on Thursday and Friday. Another group is planning a gathering on Friday night. NUS CIT is doing an IVLE testing on Thursday too. Arrgh!! Schedule conflict!!
Think I will only get to write the travel posts sometime tomorrow. If you are anxious to read about some part of it, EU is doing a writeup.
Edit: Updated the link. Thanks, EU!

Malaysia trip!
Submitted by jmarki on 9 May 2007 - 10:26amI will be going to Malaysia till next Sunday! Whoopee!
First stop: Genting
Second stop: KL
Third stop: Not sure
Fourth stop: Penang
Happening right? Poor blokes have to tour Malaysia as graduation trips...
Anyway, I'm resisting the urge to bring my laptop along. The geeky tendency of hugging a laptop everywhere one goes has seemingly subsumed me. Whahahahahahah.... I will resist!!!
Maybe I'll stave off my Internet Withdrawal by blogging about the trip at Internet cafes somewhere. See how it goes lah...

Plans for the December holiday
